Simple Solution for a Complex Problem – Moody’s Analytics
Ux & Interaction Design
Municipal bonds and bond sales are inherently complex, requiring more contextual information than other credit deals. However, the details for each bond in the sales list were not extensive enough to justify linking to a separate page.
Stakeholders needed to see detailed information in the same place, with minimal navigation.
The solution?
An accordion pattern to visually connect entities, bonds, and sales, providing context at a glance without loading a separate screen. Through stakeholder collaboration, I demonstrated that separate entity and sale screens were unnecessary.
The default entity screen displays key information about the bond-issuing organization, along with all associated bonds and sales.
When a sale is selected in the ‘Sales Module,’ relevant details appear while the entity information remains visible. This accordion-based design delivers a more seamless, contextual, and efficient user experience.
In the original version of the Municipal CreditView product, Entity and Sale information were displayed on separate screens. This screen represents the Sales view, which served as the first step in the two-screen interaction.
An accordion pattern effectively displays relationships between entities, bonds, and sales, providing essential context at a glance without requiring a separate screen to load.
